Job Title: Research Associate - Preclinical in vivo imaging and therapeutic studies
General Description:
The Proteogenomics Research Institute for Systems Medicine (PRISM) is a biomedical research institute leading the way in development of novel treatments for cancer and lung diseases. PRISM is currently seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented, well-organized candidate with ability to work with minimal supervision. The individual will be a critical part of our in vivo studies, supporting preclinical development of targeted agents for imaging and/or therapy of cancer and lung diseases. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Intravenous administration of imaging reagents in mice and rats and performing in vivo imaging studies using IVIS system for imaging of bioluminescence and fluorescence, single photon emission computed tomography co-registered with computed tomography (SPECT-CT) scans and biodistribution studies.
- Monitoring therapeutic effects in tumor and lung disease models.
- Radiolabeling of antibodies for in vivo imaging or therapeutic studies.
- Accurately record all experimental procedures and results while maintaining detailed experimental records in electronic and hardcopy formats.
- ·The candidate is expected to work in a highly collaborative fast-paced environment.
Essential Qualifications:
- This position requires general skills in animal handling, intravenous, intraperitoneal and subcutaneous administration in mice and rats.
- BS or MS degree in biochemistry, immunology, cell biology or a related life-science discipline with at least one year experience in a research laboratory.
- Ability to learn new skills quickly and demonstrate initiative and follow-through in problem-solving.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with MS Office and other commonly used software.
Desirable Qualifications
- While not essential, previous experience with small animal surgeries, tumor models, implantation of patient-derived xenografts (PDX), andin vivo pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, toxicology, and in vitro immuno-based assays (Western blots, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence) is highly desirable.
