Job Summary
Performs both technical tasks and clerical functions, responsible for performing echocardiograph studies and high-quality peripheral vascular studies including duplex imaging and plethysmography of upper and lower extremity vasculature, abdominal viscera, and cranial vessels.
Essential Functions

- Performs most modalities of echocardiography (i.e., 2-D, M-Mode, Doppler, and color flow Doppler imaging, as well as assists with qualified physician with TEE procedures) and peripheral vascular studies (i.e., duplex imaging, Doppler, and plethysmography of upper and lower extremity vasculature, abdominal viscera, carotid vasculature, and/or intracranial vessels).
- Rotates to multiple lab locations as scheduled and required by the IAC.
- Operates all lab testing equipment and software packages, including ultrasound and physiological equipment, EMR, Structured Reporting, and PACS.
- Attends staff and departmental meetings, participates in discussions, and keeps abreast of changes in the field.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
- This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Requirements
- Education - Associate degree; graduate of a formal sonography program.
- Experience - One year of cardiac and vascular sonography experience performing non-invasive lab studies.
In Lieu Of
- In lieu of the education and experience requirements, may consider five years of dedicated cardiovascular lab experience.
- Team members in this job as of 11/08/2020 are grandfathered from the minimum requirements listed above pending state and regulatory requirements.
Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses
- Registered in vascular technology (ARDMS-RVT or CCI-RVS).
- Registered in echocardiography (ARDMS-AE and/or ARDMS-PE or CCI-RCS).
- BLS.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier).
- Proficient computer skills (database).
- Data entry skills.
- Mathematical skills.
- Effective at data conversion.
- Medical terminology preferred.
