Overview
The Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) at Prisma Health Richland Hospital is a 16-bed unit caring for critically ill patients with injury or disease to the nervous system. As a Critical Care Nurse in this setting, you will have the opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including physicians with specialized training in neurocritical care, acute care nurse practitioners, and critical care nurses with neuroscience training.
Responsibilities
Provide direct care to assigned patients, consistent with established nursing standards and policies.
Assess and recognize subtle or actual changes in patients' status, and communicate these changes to the healthcare team.
Develop and implement individualized plans of care, prioritizing patient needs and collaborating with the healthcare team to achieve optimal outcomes.
Evaluate patient progress, adjusting plans of care as needed to ensure effective treatment and recovery.
Contribute to performance improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities for quality enhancement and contributing to evidence-based practice.
Qualifications
Demonstrated expertise in critical care nursing, preferably in a neuroscience setting.
Associate degree in Nursing; Bachelor's degree preferred.
One year of experience as a registered nurse, or completion of the Prisma Health Nurse Residency Program or comparable residency.
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in South Carolina.
