Job Summary
The CT Technologist performs a variety of procedures applying ionizing radiation under the direction of the manager and in-charge technologist. Key responsibilities include performing CT scans, communicating with physicians and other personnel, and maintaining accurate records.
Key Accountabilities:
- Procedure Execution: Identifies patients and procedures, communicates with nursing or physician, and informs nursing of patients needing IV sedation or biopsies.
- Patient Preparation: Positions patients accurately for all CT procedures, ensures anatomy is demonstrated for best visibility, and maintains a clean and stocked examination room.
- Image Acquisition: Performs procedures correctly using scanning protocols, obtains appropriate supplies, and prepares room for patient.
- Reporting and Communication: Explains CT procedure to patient and/or family member, obtains completed questionnaire and proper history, and informs patients and families of delays.
- Maintenance and Training: Maintains competency needed for working in the CT department, performs point of care testing, and trains co-workers and students.
Requirements:
- Certification Program: Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program with ARRT certification in CT.
Additional Requirements:
- ARRT Registered and registered in CT
- SCQRSA License
- CPR certified
