Job Summary
First responder for on-site library patrons seeking assistance. Library representative at the weekly Knowledge Market for new employees; manages circulation, statistics, reserves, and shelving; and supervises library volunteers.
Essential Functions

Provides assistance to patrons entering the library by instructing them in the use of library computers & laptops, directing them to books, journals and / or databases, referring them to other library staff as needed; in absence of librarian; provides services to staff
Represents the Library at the weekly Knowledge Market as part of new employee orientation
Coordinates all circulation activities for the library with bar codes; enters all material checked out into the computer; checks in material on computer when returned; records statistics; send overdue notices for delinquent items; fills requests for journal articles as needed.
Manages interlibrary loans for faculty and students; adheres to copyright compliance; photocopies & e-mails articles available to faculty & students; orders books for the Library Commons; staffing as needed for Library commons
Supervises and assigns duties to library volunteers; coordinates volunteer appreciation and celebrations
Provides special services to medical and nursing staff to include photocopying table of contents for new journals, coordinating special requests for material to be places on reserve, & making copies of required reading for GME board certification.
Coordinates invoicing patrons for lost items and interlibrary loan costs; shelving books by National Library of Medicine classification; marketing library by monthly bulletin board changes in cafeteria and library
Actively assists hospital patrons in finding appropriate patient education material.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory / Management Responsibilities
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Education - High School diploma or equivalent. Computer courses preferred.
Experience - Two (2) years of library experience preferred
