About the Role
Under the direction of a pharmacist, a pharmacy technician performs pharmacy-related functions in compliance with departmental policies and procedures and participates as an active member of the pharmacy team to provide pharmaceutical care for patients.
Key Accountabilities:
- Perform advanced inventory fulfillment within warehouse settings and/or total parental nutrition (TPN) compounding.
- Compound pediatric doses, non-sterile preparations, and sterile preparations.
- Interpret and prepare medication orders, including filling provider orders, medication kits/trays, automated dispensing cabinets, and floor stock requisitions.
- Deliver medications to patient care areas or departments in a timely manner.
- Adhere to regulatory guidelines for pharmacy compounding and maintain accurate documentation.
- Provide excellent customer service, maintaining a clean and orderly work area, and being prepared to start work at the beginning of each shift.
- Complete quality assurance work, including expiration checks, clean room documentation, temperature monitoring, and equipment cleaning/preventative maintenance.
- Participate in training new personnel and mentorship of new pharmacy technicians and interns.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent; OR post-high school degree.
- Six months experience as a Pharmacy Tech.
Certifications:
- State Certified Pharmacy Tech with the SC Board of Pharmacy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Medical and pharmacy terminology; good mathematical, computer, and aseptic technique skills.
- Problem-solving abilities; ability to work in team situations and handle urgent/stressful conditions.
