Job Summary
The Clinical Coordinator serves as a role model and resource for providing clinical and operational leadership. As a direct patient care provider this position delivers expert care in all clinical settings. Instructs, applies and mentors staff in advanced level technical skills, critical thinking and problem solving strategies to intervene in complex patient care situations. Advocates for appropriate patient therapy, competent in directing and planning shift assignment and workflow. Contributes to the development of education content for completion of required competency / training presents formal education as assigned by leadership.Is a Super User for advanced technology; maintaining and documenting staff completion as assigned by super user specialty group. Contributes to drafting department Policy and procedure and participates in Performance Improvement processes and monitoring.
Accountabilities
- Provides clinical patient care adult acute and critical care, pediatric, E.D. and Trauma respiratory care services, applications, procedures and equipment. 25%
- Perform basic shift leader functions : Determine staffing workload needs using EMR staffing reports, Prepare and distribute staff assignments using EMR reports , Assess and re-deploy staffing levels throughout the shift as needed, Assure appropriate staffing levels for oncoming shift using EMR re 25%
- Performs basic and advanced cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures and calculations, collects and interprets data to facilitate objective patient assessment and effective care planning. Assists other health care professionals in the interpretation and clinical application of results. 10%
- Monitors and evaluates patient care plan as indicated by the patient's medical condition. Communicates relevant findings to physicians, coworkers and nursing staff as appropriate and recommends modifications per department polices and protocols and Completes clinical documentation and appropriate billing in the hospital Electronic Medical Record before the end of shift 10%
- Researches evidence based clinical and operational practices, reports and corrects patient safety issues. Uses the chain of command as appropriate. Assures feed back communication and action planning for Patient Occurrence Reporting System 10%
- Assures standardized hand off for patient care services to the on coming and off going shift RCP. Escalates safety and outcome issues to Clinical Supervisor. 15%
- Assists with orientation and technical competency for RCS staff,new hires, medical staff,nursing and RC student as assigned. 5%
Supervisory / Management Responsibilities
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
Minimum Education
Associate's Degree - Respiratory Therapy or other related field and a graduate of a school of Respiratory Therapy approved by the American Medical Association or successor accrediting authority.
Bachelor's preferred
Minimum Experience
3 years- as Registered Respiratory Therapist, with 1 year at Prisma Health (working in Adult or Children's Hospital Critical Care)
