Job Description

Pritchett School District is hiring a K-12 principal and guidance counselor. The principal is responsible for the academic excellence and personal growth of every student through effective leadership. Organizes school operations around the improvement of instruction by maintaining a safe and orderly environment and upholding state laws and District Policies. Manages personnel, maintains the facility to provide a quality learning environment, establishes effective public relationships, and coordinates effective instructional programs.

Qualifications :

  • Colorado Principal’s License or able to obtain one
  • Excellent Oral and Written communication and human relations skills
  • Ability to plan and implement lessons based on district and state standards
  • Experience in building or district leadership related to special education.
  • Knowledge of policy, curriculum, evaluation, instruction, and budgeting.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to educational equity, dismantling inequities, and supporting all students.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, with or without accommodations.
  • Models reflective practice, humility, perseverance, empathy, and positivity.
  • Demonstrates leadership and situational awareness with effective communication.

Instructional Leadership :

  • Oversees effective instructional programs, observations, and analysis of learning.
  • Develop and implement improvement plans, leveraging data to drive instructional practices and student outcomes.
  • Coordinates with the Superintendent to provide embedded, evidence-based professional learning aligned with school goals and educator needs.
  • Staff Development and Management

  • Leads, evaluates, mentors, and supports certified and classified personnel.
  • Coaching, feedback, professional development, and collaborative frameworks build staff capacity.
  • Manages performance, resolves conflicts, and ensures adherence to district policies and agreements.
  • School Culture and Climate

  • Fosters an inclusive, equitable, and welcoming culture for students, staff, and families.
  • Promotes shared leadership, transparency, collaboration, and a safe, caring environment.
  • Reinforces the vision, values, and mission to ensure student success and shared accountability.
  • Operations and Resource Management

  • Maintains a safe and orderly environment, upholds policies, and oversees emergency management plans and training.
  • State reporting as assigned by the Superintendent.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy

  • Builds effective public relationships and engages families, community, and district stakeholders.
  • Utilizes processes to foster ownership, advocacy, and shared responsibility for school goals.
  • Accountability and Continuous Improvement

  • Sets clear expectations, monitors progress and prioritizes student learning outcomes.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to results, growth, and lifelong learning for all stakeholders.
  • Supports implementation of strategic goals, accountability committees, and collaborative structures.
  • Additional Duties

  • Performs other related responsibilities necessary for building-level leadership.
  • Teaches, facilitates and promotes such life skills as problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution, goal-setting, and respect for individual differences.
  • Provides counseling and guidance to students, which may include evaluating career interests / choices and post-secondary planning; and provides student orientation for new and / or transfer students in collaboration with feeder schools.
  • Serves as a resource to special education staff, including attending child studies and student staffing when appropriate.
  • Supervision & Technical Responsibilities :

  • Directly and indirectly, supervises staff as determined by the Superintendent.
  • Supervisory responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; evaluating; disciplining and recommending dismissal of employees; and managing budgets.
  • Budget Responsibility :

  • Collaborating with the Superintendent, develop, administer, monitor, and coordinate the assigned budgets.
  • Collaborating with the Superintendent to manage and implement grant programs.

    Physical Demands :

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and smell. The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 25 pounds frequently.

    Work Environment :

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work primarily in a usual office or school environment.

    Mental Functions : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, compare, analyze, coordinate, evaluate, and use interpersonal skills.

    Salary / Benefits :

  • This is a full-time position and will be paid based on the current step in the salary schedule; is negotiable on experience, responsibilities, and qualifications. Refer to Salary Schedule at
  • Free Breakfast and Lunch
  • 4-day work week
  • Housing is available by request. Utilities (electric, gas, water & sewer) are included.
  • 9 days discretionary leave per year. Unused leave may accumulate up to 30 days.
  • Unused leave over 30 days will be bought back by the District for the cost of daily rate.
  • The district pays 80% for individual medical insurance.
  • Paid Holidays
  • June and July off for Summer Break
