What are the responsibilities and job description for the Caregiver/Personal Assistant position at Private Home?
Currently we are hiring for a caregiver/ home assistant position. This is to join our team caring for a private handicapped client in her home. We currently have a staff of 5 with over half having been here 7-10 years. We are looking for someone who would like to join our team and stay for the long haul. This is *not* through an agency or for multiple clients. Pay is weekly, via check through a payroll company.
This position requires availability of 9a-5p every other weekend. This position can be part time or full time based on what you are looking for. We currently have 1 full time and 1 part time position open. In addition to every other weekend we also have hours available between 9am- 8pm Monday - Friday. We can accommodate scheduling needs around other obligations you may have. Some of us work 4 hour shifts and some of us work 10 hour shifts. We are very flexible for the right person! Starting pay is $15 /hr minimum, up to $19 based on experience and negotiable for the right person! 90 day probationary period with potential for a raise afterwards. Location is the East side of Spartanburg of Fernwood Glendale Rd.
This is a unique opportunity to join a team of caregivers that are like a family! We staff our client's home 7 days a week and teamwork, friendliness, and truly caring are very important. Aside from caregiving tasks we also are responsible for caring for the client's 4 cats, home, and yard (lawn maintenance not included, she has a landscaper!) This includes things like cleaning the filter in her koi pond, scrubbing bird baths and filling bird feeders, scooping litter boxes, sweeping off the porch, putting up grocery delivery orders, brushing the cats, running errands, cooking interesting recipes she found online, and a multitude of other tasks that are very important to her and her well-being!
The right person would have no problem bathing the client and soaking her feet then taking a few minutes to play with the cats and then head outside to put out nuts for the squirrels and clean & refill hummingbird feeders. Our days are moderately busy and diverse! The client works with a kitten rescue as a foster home so please make sure that helping to care for an adorable litter of kittens with or without a mother and everything that entails is something you would be comfortable with.
Our ideal candidate:
- Someone who has CNA/caregiver experience. Being comfortable with various types of personal care assistance is a must.
- Likes to stay busy and isn’t expecting to physically sit with the client. We rarely have days where there isn’t something to work on. The client is also involved with a variety of philanthropic organizations and we have various projects throughout the year.
- Enjoys a job that offers a variety of tasks and the ability to multitask when necessary.
- Able to be self motivated and follow a checklist of tasks as well as be aware of the environment and recognizing things that need to be done.
- Someone with great attention to detail as some of the caregiving and household tasks are very specific. The client is not demanding or picky, but does like things done the correct way & usually the same way every time.
- Someone with a caring, compassionate, positive and friendly personality and a good attitude. Some days we will have 3 to 4 employees in the home and we like to make it an enjoyable atmosphere where we have fun and get things done!
- Someone who is very reliable and cares about the obligations that they commit to. Some days there is only one person on staff, which means if that person is significantly late or calls out, another employee will have to come in on their day off to cover the shift as the client must have someone in the home. We try to be respectful of each other’s time & family obligations outside of work and understand the importance of showing up when scheduled.
- Someone who is sincere and respectful of the client, her home, and her cats.
- Someone who likes cats and is comfortable with basic cat care.
- Non-smoker preferred due to oxygen use in home.
