House Manager & Lead Nanny
Location : Northern California
Hours : Full time (Schedule TBD)
Education : Formal training in education or child development (preferred)
Salary : Competitive : Based on experience and education (stipend for health insurance)
Transportation : A company car is provided for work-related tasks, but the candidate should also have reliable transportation if the company car isn’t available.
Relocation : Local candidates are preferred but relocation is possible for the right person
Languages : Strong command of English. Chinese (Mandarin) is a bonus but not a requirement.

Summary
This live-out position provides 360-degree support to the household and acts as the main go-between for the VIPs and the staff / vendors. Support staff includes a chef, housekeeper, and governess / lead tutor. The household has four children between the ages of 3 and 13.
The candidate needs to be proactive and forward-thinking. Furthermore, embracing the educational philosophy of the household is paramount because this position revolves around the well-being and education of the children.
While there is a full-time governess who teaches and tutors the children, this role requires the candidate to identify learning opportunities for the children while the kids are in their care. So, for example, if the candidate is at the park with the children, they should be engaged with them, not on their phone or distracted by other things. Always be looking for “teachable moments.”
Candidates must have verifiable references, pass a background check, have a clean driving record, and be willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
Children's Activities :
- Research and identify weekend activities, extracurricular classes, and educational programs for children. This goes far beyond just finding resources on Google.
- Conduct site surveys at activity locations as needed to ensure safety.
- Take children to and from classes, activities, or events, and provide feedback / observations as needed.
- Maintain positive relationships with schoolteachers and staff to stay informed about children's academic and social development.
Family Network Management :
Plan family events, including gatherings, parties, and children’s playdates.Foster positive relationships within the family’s social circle.Build and strengthen the family’s culture, connecting members across continents.Optional) Interface with family office, business entities, lawyers, etc.Errands & Administrative Tasks :
Conduct grocery shopping and manage household supplies to ensure the home is well-stocked.Budgeting of family expenses and miscellaneous administrative tasks.Pick up prescriptions from the pharmacy and handle other routine errands.Handle medical insurance documents, bill payments, and other financial tasks.Household Management :
Decorate the home for holidays, special occasions, and events (Chinese and American holidays).Coordinate with vendors for household services.Scheduling construction, maintenance, and / or refurbishment projects for properties across multiple locations, including coordination and quality control.The candidate should be adept at creating and refining systems to ensure the smooth operation of the household.Domestic Staff Management :
Help recruit and manage part-time household personnel.Coordinate schedules and responsibilities for drivers and temporary personnel to ensure seamless operations.Address any issues or conflicts among household staff to maintain a harmonious work environment.Travel Management :
Arrange family travel : flights, accommodations, transportation, etc.Create detailed travel itineraries and guides to ensure smooth and stress-free trips.Handle last-minute changes or emergencies during travel.Work Schedule :
Work 5 to 5.5 days per week on-site with the family head. One weekday off can be taken based on the schedule, with some weekend work required.Schedules are subject to change, sometimes daily or hourly, based on evolving family needs.Flexibility is required during emergencies or unplanned schedule changes.Required Skills, Attributes & Considerations
Eligible to work in the US.Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably as a governess, nanny, family assistant, personal assistant, or household manager.Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with an emphasis on planning and execution. A results-oriented mindset is essential.Proactive attitude with a commitment to completing tasks efficiently.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Quick learner with the ability to solve problems independently and resourcefully.Exceptional social networking skills, preferably within the SF Bay Area.Strong service mindset (service heart), with the ability to anticipate and understand the family's needs.Discretion and the ability to handle confidential information.Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.Flexibility in work hours, including occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and during emergencies or unplanned changes.Minimum commitment of 1-2 years in the role.
