Role and Responsibilities:

 As the Logistics and Materials Manager, you will collaborate with a cross-functional team including Logistics, Operations, Quality, Finance, Sales, and Marketing to develop and execute a Logistics and Materials management strategy to include incoming materials management from multiple components and OEM Product sources globally, internal materials management and outbound finished goods shipments to both dealers and end consumers. This position leads a team of employees including logistics coordinators, inbound receivers/material handlers as well as a network of 3rd party logistics companies.


Core functions include the following:


Develop and Execute Strategy for Inbound and outbound Logistics and External Warehousing

• Analyze data including shipping volume, costs, damage rates, supplier performance, etc. to inform

strategy development and adjustment overtime.

• Develop and optimize logistics lanes for finished goods from 2 manufacturing locations servicing both

consumers and dealers in the US and Canada.

• Lead sourcing strategy for carriers to optimize freight costs, on-time delivery, customer satisfaction and

damage costs.

• Partner with Big Chill Business Team to determine the most cost-effective way to support curbside and in-home delivery for direct-to-consumer orders.

• Partner with Engineering and Operations to develop packaging solutions for finished goods, service parts

and inbound supplied components.

• Assess ongoing needs for regional warehouses and/or cross-docking locations to support stock

programs, reverse logistics, etc.


Manage Day to day-to-day operations of the Shipping and Receiving Department:


• Act as a core member of the Operations Leadership team to develop, execute, and continuously improve

performance across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Morale metrics

• Partner with EHS and Facilities Manager to ensure PIT’s are inspected and maintained properly

• Participate in Safety investigations of near misses, property damage and incidents involving Logistics and

Materials processes or personnel

• Set department and individual goals with input from Cross-functional team

• Manage department daily, weekly, and monthly activities including the following:

• Operation of the receiving dock including scheduling of delivery, unloading, goods receipts and

inventory transactions

• Monitoring of production parts needs and delivery on time

• Coordination of shipping components for external processing such as enameling

• Determine Carrier, coordinate generation of BOL and Labels, Oversee printing of Packing Slips

for outbound Finished Goods

• Audit & Approve carrier invoices to ensure shipments are accurate and billed correctly.

• Develop order completion priority with operations to optimize on-time delivery and cost

• Manage/arrange expedited inbound & outbound shipments. Includes Communications & Expediting with all parties involved.

• Assist with RMA Field Issues including carrier and level of service needed.

• Select and arrange international transportation and provide any documentation required

• Establish and maintain good relations with Carrier Reps. and their Terminal personnel.

• Manage (add & remove) TL and LTL carrier base. Obtain competitive rate quotes.

• Maintain & Update company annual NAFTA certificates for Customs Broker and major Canadian

customers.

• Other duties as assigned including driving of fork truck and operating scan guns as needed.

Determine staffing needs as volume fluctuates and work with the Manager and HR to ensure the team is staffed appropriately


Manage Training and Development of self and team:

• Ensure required safety training is completed and maintained for the operation of P.I.T vehicles

• Ensure personnel are properly trained to accurately perform duties.

• Coordinate onboarding of new members with HR and other team members as appropriate

• Monitor the performance of each team member versus expectations, providing timely and actionable

feedback and addressing any personnel issues with the support of HR

• Develop short-, mid-, and long-term growth and development plans for self and team including 3rd party training and certifications to maintain and grow capabilities as the business evolves.

• Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• 4-year degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business or High School Degree and equivalent

relevant work experience in Logistics and Materials Management 5 years

• 10 years of related experience in Logistics, Warehouse Management, Materials Management

• Proficient in all warehouse operations with the ability to train, develop, and mentor team members

• Certified P.I.T. Trainer and Operator

• Experience with Finished Goods packaging design and best practices

• Strong analytic, planning, facilitation, and problem-solving skills

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

• Detail oriented

• Ability to problem solve

• Perform work tasks that are safe and in compliance with company safety standards

• Experience working with LTL carriers

• Experience custom invoices

• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

• Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems including MRP, Inventory Control, Scan Gun
