Position Summary:
As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting healthcare professionals and ensuring the efficient operation of medical facilities. Your responsibilities will encompass both administrative and clinical tasks, providing vital support to deliver high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Interaction:
- Greet and assist patients in a friendly and professional manner.
- Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for medical procedures.
- Collect and record patient medical history and vital signs.
- Address patient inquiries and provide clear, accurate information.
Clinical Support:
- Assist healthcare providers during medical examinations and procedures.
- Administer medications and injections under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional.
- Perform basic medical procedures, such as wound dressings, EKGs, and phlebotomy.
- Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of medical equipment.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain patient records, including electronic health records (EHR), and ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
- Schedule appointments and follow-up visits for patients.
- Handle billing and insurance-related tasks, such as verifying patient insurance information and processing claims.
- Manage inventory and order medical and office supplies as needed.
Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to all relevant medical and safety regulations, including HIPAA and infection control protocols.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure patient and staff safety.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with nurses, physicians, and other medical professionals to provide coordinated patient care.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure a smooth patient flow and efficient operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical assistant training program or certification is preferred.
- Current CPR certification.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and proficiency in using EHR systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively.
