SUMMARY:
ProFarm Group (PFG) is a subsidiary of Bioceres Crop Solutions, a global provider of biologically derived fertilizers, inoculants, crop traits, adjuvants, biostimulants and pesticides, serving the ever-expanding agricultural markets. PFG focuses on discovering, developing, and marketing nature-derived biostimulants, as well as pest management products from microbes and plant extracts for the effective control of invertebrate pests, weeds, and plant diseases.
The Shift Supervisor at Pro Farm Michigan Manufacturing is responsible for overseeing site operations and serves as the primary point of communication between business units, contractors, customers, and regulatory agencies. The supervisor ensures compliance with company policies and procedures, including safety, environmental standards, sanitation, and work quality. Additionally, the supervisor upholds high management and production standards to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
· Provide coaching, development, training, and management support to the operations team to ensure organizational goals are met.
· Address employee issues and concerns, fostering engagement and a positive work environment.
· Oversee emergency response and facility operations, troubleshooting as needed to meet customer requirements and ensure compliance with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards.
· Assist in monitoring product quality, inventories, production rates, and delivery schedules, while coordinating emergency maintenance resources.
· Develop a basic operational understanding of all departments within the facility.
· Manage and allocate site utilities in the event of process disruptions or curtailments.
· Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's Degree preferred with 2 years of experience in a supervisory or manufacturing technical support role, OR
• Associate’s degree in a technical or related field with 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing supervisory or lead role, OR
• High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing supervisory role.
• Strong working knowledge of 5S; Experience in Process Improvement, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Kaizen.
• Ability to collect, analyze, and make decisions using business metrics and data.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Must be able to collect data on department metrics and create/maintain charts and graphs in Excel.
• Ability and willingness to work a 12-hour shift as necessary, with the flexibility to work additional hours as needed.
• Willingness and capability to work in a challenging, physically demanding production or industrial environment.
• Proven ability to work effectively under pressure, handle multiple priorities, and perform in adverse conditions.
• Strong initiative, commitment to continuous learning, and the ability to manage change effectively.
• Leadership and ability to motivate individuals and teams
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to interface effectively at all organizational levels both internally and externally
• Self-motivated, with good organizational skills and be able to handle multiple tasks.
PHYSICAL:
· Work in cold to hot temperatures; work around dust, fumes, and/or moderate to loud noises ( /- 85 decibels).
· Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
· Work with heavy machinery in manufacturing environment, including driving a forklift.
· Able to lift, pull, carry, and pick-up average to heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
· Able to climb stairs or ladders and deal with heights, sit, bend, stoop and reach for objects, walk on paved and unpaved surfaces, stand for prolonged periods of time; operate a computer and keyboard; visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels and on the telephone; manual dexterity to operate a telephone; lift objects horizontally and vertically; eye-hand coordination to safely and cautiously conduct tasks.
· Must be able to pass required testing and be able to wear the required protective equipment (e.g., ear plugs, mask, respirator, etc.) as assigned and provided by the company.
MENTAL:
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in workload priorities and ability to prioritize tasks.
· Ability to use the required senses to comprehend, follow instructions and initiate work duties as assigned.
· Ability to work with little or no supervision.
TRAVEL:
· Ability to travel domestically 0-5% of the time when necessary by typical modes of transportation (e.g., car/truck).
