Moser’s Grocery Stores is seeking a dynamic and experienced Retail Store Operations leader to oversee a group of store locations. The Director of Grocery Store Operations will be responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring profitability, maintaining high merchandising standards, and leading store teams to deliver outstanding customer service. This role requires a strong leadership presence, strategic vision, and hands-on management approach.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee daily operations of multiple store locations, ensuring each store meets company standards for performance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Lead, mentor, and develop Store Managers, providing guidance on leadership, operational best practices, and financial performance.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), including sales, labor, shrink, and inventory management, to drive business growth and profitability.
- Implement strategic initiatives and company directives to ensure consistency across all locations.
- Collaborate with department heads and store teams to optimize merchandising, pricing, and product selection that align with customer needs and market trends.
- Foster an employee-ownership culture of accountability, teamwork, and employee engagement within the stores.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, health and safety regulations, and food safety standards.
- Conduct regular store visits to assess operational effectiveness, provide feedback, and support Store Managers in addressing challenges.
- Lead talent acquisition, training, and succession planning efforts to build strong, capable store leadership teams.
- Develop and manage district-level budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations and financial sustainability.
- Act as a liaison between corporate leadership and store management teams, communicating company goals and initiatives effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in multi-unit retail or grocery store management, preferably in a district or regional leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of grocery retail operations, merchandising, and financial management.
- Exceptional leadership, coaching, and team-building abilities.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing business needs.
- Proficiency in retail management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between store locations as needed.
- Knowledge of Missouri grocery market trends and consumer behavior.
- Sound understanding of the principles of advertising and promotion.
- Ability to innovate and lead change.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This role requires frequent travel between store locations.
- Work may be performed in both office and retail store environments.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate.
- Fast-paced and customer-focused work environment.
- Pass annual review of Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) to establish and continue insurability under PFS’ corporate policies.
