JUNIOR MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
Reports to: Vice President of Manufacturing and Distribution
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY
This position supports the maintenance team in maintaining the production and quality standards within PFSbrands by assisting in the operation and basic maintenance of machinery and mechanical equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with routine preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines under supervision
- Learns to follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications
- Aids in troubleshooting malfunctions and documenting findings for Industrial Maintenance Mechanic
- Supports locating problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and listening for irregular sounds
- Helps dismantle machinery to remove defective parts using appropriate tools
- Assists in measuring and inspecting parts using basic tools such as rulers, calipers, and micrometers
- Learns to adjust mechanical parts using hand tools under guidance
- Supports production staff by communicating and reinforcing routine preventive maintenance practices
- May assist in fabricating simple repair parts using basic shop tools and equipment
- Helps track and organize parts, tools, and equipment in maintenance inventory
- Conserves company resources by using supplies and tools efficiently
- Provides assistance in maintaining maintenance logs and documentation
- Participates in training sessions, workshops, and reviews technical publications to expand knowledge
- Documents work activities and communicates updates or issues with team members
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment by following safety procedures and regulations
- Adheres to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
- Support maintenance needs at multiple facilities
- Perform all other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

- High school diploma or GED required
- Related experience in maintenance or mechanical support preferred
- Basic mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn equipment maintenance
- Familiarity with safety procedures and commitment to safe work practices
- Attention to detail and willingness to follow instructions
- Ability to read and understand simple technical documents and manuals
- Strong work ethic, dependability, and ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Able to read, write, and speak in English
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is typically performed in a general food production and manufacturing environment with exposure to machine noise, ingredient and finished product dust and residues.
- Several food allergens are present in the facility and used daily
- Able to travel to and work at various locations occasionally
- Frequently work with temperatures from 55 to 90 degrees
- Occasionally work with extreme temperatures from 0 to 100 degrees
- The job is done in a fast-paced environment, subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity
- May be asked to participate in an “on call” rotation for support
- Uniforms with long pants, long sleeve shirts, and closed toed shoes are required along with hair and beard coverings. Additional PPE may be required depending on individual tasks.
