What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Buyer position at Pro Image Sports?
SUMMARY:
The position of Junior Buyer works to identify and investigate trends within the industry and to recommend items that may be of interest to their stores. Works with Owner in the procurement of goods by preparing assortment planning plans, responsible for reviewing historical trends of inventory and recommend actions to meet turn goals. Will be responsible for management of the ecommerce business; inclusive of product selection, uploading inventory and assuring processing of orders. The goal is to ensure efficiency and productivity of our buying operations in order to meet consumer satisfaction, helping streamline operations to contribute to the company’s financial health and boost our company’s profitability.
I. JOB DUTIES:
A. Business:
Work with Owner/President to create and maintain a budget for assortment planning, purchasing and inventory management
Review the impact on revenue, units, margins, rebates/marketing and inventory and recommend immediate actions needed to attain the goals
Reviews analytical reports to leverage in determining the life cycle of the product and actively manages inventory through development of exit strategies, (stock balance, promo, markdowns, etc.,)
Responsible for negotiating and/or overseeing the return of damaged goods or incorrect shipments to suppliers for replacement or credit.
Assures the maintenance of POS system on pricing, inventory and reporting necessary to manage stocks
Drives initial implementation, (by department, league, team, sizes, etc.,) and daily execution for planning, analyzing, forecasting and distribution of merchandise while adhering to company, corporate and divisional strategies and product compliance
Maintains awareness of sports industry team performance (including retail industry competition)
Develops and maintains effective working relationships with members of cross-functional team (merchandising, marketing, sourcing, planning, and operations)
Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Travel to include, store visits, physical inventory, store resets, transit of products, etc.,
Attend annual strategy and weekly transfer meetings
B. Product/Merchandising/Marketing:
Participate in the building of assortments, provide prepared ideas on editing process
Assists in maintaining communication on proper receipt of shipments, inventory and operational policies related to inventory management
Responsible for the management of ECOM item inventory, fulfillment, processing and tracking of online orders
Attend vendor meetings, trade shows and other events to stay current on industry trends and identify new product opportunities
Assist in planning & communication
III. REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent relevant experience
1-2 years of relevant retail buying experience
Retail math skills
Knowledge of Excel to Computer Skills
Professional, positive attitude
Is a critical thinker with attention to detail when selecting items.
Can utilize leadership skills for decision making.
Fluent product knowledge
Works well under pressure
Sense of urgency, highly detailed, and experience in meeting deadlines
Excellent communication; written, oral, and group facilitation
