Material Handler 1st Shift

Shift :   7 am- 3 : 3 0pm Mon- Fri  OT on  Saturday  but only until noon.

Job Title :   Material Handler - Forklift experience required.  Sit-Down and Stand-Up

Location : Logansport, IN

Summary :   A Material Handler is responsible for managing, moving, and organizing materials within  the  warehouse / manufacturing area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Receive and inspect shipments .
• Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
• Transport material, parts, and products to designated areas using a forklift, pallet jack or other equipment.
• Keep accurate records of material inventory.
• Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
• Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or select preassembled containers.
• Inserts items into containers.
• Nails cover wooden crates and bind containers with metal strapping.
• Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
• Prepare material for shipment.
• Load outgoing shipments onto trucks.

Education and / or Experience :

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills :

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Mathematical Skills :

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability :

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
