Job Title : Quality Control

Location : Logansport, IN

Summary :   Develops gauging setup and layout procedures. Inspects punched and formed  workpieces  and assemblies at assembly, inspection, or machining station to ensure conformance to specifications by performing the following duties .

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Reads blueprints or engineering specifications to obtain product information such as specified material, surface finish, and dimensions.
  • Compares surface finish of  workpiece  to customer specification or approved first piece sample.
  • Measures dimensions such as length, height, and distance, between reference points to ensure product meets specifications.
  • Locates reference point on part and measures dimensions such as angle, arc, and radii.
  • Reports findings to Quality Manager.
  • Inspects first run parts.
  • Sets up and tests inspection equipment to ensure accuracy.
  • Substitutes known values such as dimensions from blueprints into standard formulas and solves for unknown quantities to determine dimensions not specified in blueprints.
  • Analyzes inspection problem by comparing part with blueprints or sketches, and devises procedures necessary to measure specified dimensions.
  • Lays out part to verify dimensions.
  • Develops and draws patterns and templates used to measure curves and angles.
  • Analyzes defective parts to determine reasons for dimensional variations such as faulty machining, or assembly procedures, setup, tools, or fixtures.
  • Recommends corrective procedures to design, methods, process, or production engineering departments.
  • Inspects fixtures, tools, or gauges, and suggests replacement or use of new equipment.
  • Develops first-article, in- process,  and final inspection check sheet s.
  • Trains personnel in the use of quality tools to ensure product conformity.

    Education and / or Experience :

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Language Skills :

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

    Mathematical Skills :

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    Reasoning Ability :

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Computer Skills :

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
