What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Agent position at Pro Sales Inc?
Position Summary:
Pro Sales is a leader in the food processing industry and has been for over 30 years due to our dedicated sales force & support staff. The purchasing agent will be responsible for buying goods, equipment, products, and services to fulfill orders in a timely fashion. Negotiates the best deal for the company and ensures safe transportation of the product. This requires vendor maintenance in order to maintain vendor service levels, create solutions, and pricing to build long term relationships with our vendors.
Structure:
Monday – Friday; minimum 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Qualifications:
Required:
General knowledge of Budgeting, Inventory, and Cost-Management
Excellent people skills
Ability to operate a computer
Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
Software: Windows 7, Accounting Software, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Knowledge of the Food and Beverage Industry
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain Management or related field

Purchasing
Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers. Identify potential suppliers, visit existing suppliers, and build and maintain good relationships with them. Negotiate pricing, freight, restocking agreements and monitor their progress, while checking the quality of service provided. Keep contract files, verify internal pricing, and use them as reference for the future. Give presentations about market analysis and possible growth. Develop an organization’s purchasing strategy. Produce reports and statistics using computer software. Evaluate bids and make recommendations based on commercial and technical factors. Ensure suppliers are aware of business objectives.
Researching/Forecasting
Forecast levels of demand for services and products to meet the business needs and keep a constant check on stock levels. Conduct research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality. Forecast price trends and their impact on future activities.
RMA/RTV
Handle RMA’s (returned material authorization) and RTV’s (returned to vendor) from all sources. Process paperwork promptly and accurately.
