Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Roller Operator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating heavy rolling machinery to compact asphalt surfaces to the desired compaction and smoothness in the construction of highways, streets, parking lots, and other structures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate roller equipment to compact earth fills, subgrades, and asphalt surfaces in successive overlapping passes, ensuring optimal compaction and smoothness.
- Determine appropriate machine speed and direction based on material compressibility and temperature variations to prevent surface imperfections.
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment to ensure proper
- Communicate effectively with the paving crew to ensure seamless project execution.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent. asphaltpavement.org
- Minimum of 2 years' experience operating roller machinery in a construction
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong understanding of construction techniques and OSHA regulations.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, squatting, twisting, and climbing heavy equipment multiple times daily.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions and overtime as required.
