 Associate Consultant – Generalist Project Management
The Associate Consultant will participate as a member of consulting teams on a wide range of client projects, often serving as the project manager while conducting research, developing materials, and providing additional team support, as well as, supporting internal practice development and business development activities.
The Associate Consultant will work in-office and report to a Partner, Principal, Sr. Director, or Sr. Consultant for leadership and support. The position may require work outside of regular business hours to meet client and project demands (i.e., evenings and weekends); however, we strive to provide flexible scheduling around these situations.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Associate Consultant will include a broad range of communication, logistical and analytical tasks coordinating the various groups working on a project and ensuring that they are all on schedule, understanding and disseminating transactional information, and liaising with clients and stakeholders
Project Management and Support 
•    Plan and participate in meetings as a consulting team member for projects with clients (e.g., business operational assessment, strategy development, business transformation, process & operational improvements, organizational design, mergers & acquisitions, etc.).
•    Monitor deadlines, tasks, and deliverables for client projects in partnership with the Lead Consultant or Project Leader; develop and update work plans as appropriate; and identify the impact of work plan changes to project schedules, capacity, and budget.
•    Ensure quality of client deliverables by having strong attention to detail.
•    Proactively communicate ideas and thoughts to the Lead Consultant and other project team members, providing feedback on meetings and interviews, critical thinking on meeting project goals, and planning on project trajectory.
•    Create and monitor folders in a shared document system for sharing, managing, and archiving project files
•    Ensure consistency across the project team in the use of document sharing tools, databases, technology platforms, materials, and general project information
•    Schedule and plan logistics for project meetings — internal and external stakeholders — to be conducted in person and via telephone/video conferencing — using Teams, Zoom, Skype, and/or other technology
•    Attend and take notes at client meetings both in-person and via phone/video conference, as needed (some local travel will be required)
•    May act as a liaison between the Firm and other partners or contractors also working with the client
•    Support internal practice development and business development activities
Research
•    Conduct research using online sources or interviews in support of the project work.
•    Develop analysis and drafts of findings reports for the research conducted.
Materials Development
•    Draft client communications, including emails, agendas, minutes, project work plans, worksheets, reports, presentations, etc.
•    Develop internal and external workflows and standard operating procedure documents.
•    Review, edit, and format reports and documents generated by the project team.
•    Create charts and graphs using financial data within Excel.
Qualifications
The Associate Consultant position requires excellent communication skills, demonstrated capability in managing priorities, strong customer service orientation, and interest in learning new tools and technologies in commercial business. This individual must be engaged, self-motivated, ambitious, responsive to direction, and work independently and effectively in a team.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related area or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years professional experience, preferably working as an associate in a professional services firm or a project manager or research coordinator in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in the consulting industry, M&A, investment banking, or private equity is highly desirable.
  • Strong capability in managing priorities, so that deadlines are met while retaining consistent, high-quality outcomes.
  •  Excellent written communications skills: clear and concise writing, as well as editing skills, are of particular importance.
  • Excellent oral communications skills, including a strong customer service orientation and the ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Capacity to handle multiple tasks, remain flexible, prioritize appropriately, and manage workflow for oneself and others.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically.
  • Interest in consistently learning new tools and technologies and applying those concepts to the needs of colleagues and the firm.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as part of a team while being responsive to direction and knowing when to seek guidance.
  •  Proactive and ambitious; eager to take ownership of one’s work product and demonstrate the skill, talent, and commitment to deliver outstanding results.
  • Must possess comprehensive use of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).  Other software skills desired:
  •    customer relationship management (CRM) systems
–    data, research, and technology software tools such as PitchBook or S&P Capital IQ
–    cloud-based file storage systems
