Job Description: Gas Measurement Technician
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Gas Measurement Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of gas measurement systems, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting, as well as a commitment to ensuring accuracy and compliance in all gas measurement processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Calibration & Maintenance:
Perform and oversee the calibration and maintenance of electronic gas flow measurement devices to ensure accurate and reliable data.
Conduct regular preventative maintenance on all measurement equipment.
Troubleshooting & Repairs:
Assist in diagnosing and resolving issues related to automation and electrical gas measurement equipment.
Respond promptly to call-out requests for maintenance or emergency situations, which may require irregular hours.
Gas Chromatograph Operations:
Operate and maintain portable gas chromatographs (GCs), ensuring consistent and accurate functionality.
Testing & Sampling:
Schedule, conduct, and oversee gas calibration and sampling tests, including the preparation and submission of detailed reports.
Witness gas calibrations and gas analysis to verify accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
Orifice Plate Sizing & Measurement Accuracy:
Perform calculations to determine optimal orifice plate sizes, ensuring accurate and efficient gas measurement.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain thorough records of all maintenance, calibrations, and test results in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure all activities are performed in compliance with relevant standards and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical certification in a related field preferred.
Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in gas measurement, automation, or a related field.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with electronic gas flow measurement devices, gas chromatographs, and automation systems.
Strong understanding of gas calibration, sampling, and analysis processes.
Ability to perform technical calculations, including orifice plate sizing.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Effective communication and documentation abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Other Requirements:
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to remote field locations as needed.
Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends, for emergency situations.
