Job Description:
Journeyman Pipefitter, is responsible for fitting pipe consisting of various materials such as steel, galvanized, copper, copper-nickel and stainless along with the appropriate valves and fittings, utilizing various tools and equipment in accordance with drawing, arrangements and blue prints. Ingalls shipyard production areas at times involve working at different heights, confined spaces, different weather conditions as well as multiple shifts 24 hours a day. As with most every position in the shipyard, a Pipefitter may be required to work either day or night dependent upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time. Ingalls stresses the practice of working safely in all situations with safety procedures meeting, and most times, exceeding industry standards.
6 Years with Bachelors; 4 Years with Masters Equivalency: Bachelor’s Degree and 6 years of experience.
Basic Qualifications:
· Minimum 4Ç Yrs. trade experience
· Basic math, reading and comprehension skills
· Knowledge of the layout, fit-up, fabrication and installation of pipe, flanges and valves
· Read and interpret trade drawings and/or blueprints utilizing both metric and standardmeasurements
Preferred Design Disciplines:
· 6 Yrs. marine, shipbuilding and construction experience
· Familiarity with fit-up, alignment tolerances and advanced blueprint reading skills
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $25.00 - $29.00 per hour
