Job Title: Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor, Associate Instructor
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor to join our team. The BLS Instructor will be responsible for teaching American Red Cross Basic Life Support courses, averaging 1-2 classes per week. The classes may vary in duration depending on whether they are blended learning or instructor-led.
Work Schedule :
1-2 classes per week scheduled at the convenience of the instructor. Each class runs from 3-6 hours, not including prep. Instructors are expected to arrive at the training facility 30 minutes prior to the start time and stay up to 30 minutes after; this allows time for classroom set up, takedown, and cleaning. Hours may vary based on the demand and community need of the courses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct American Red Cross Basic Life Support courses for healthcare providers and other professionals.
- Prepare and organize course materials, ensuring all necessary equipment is available and in working order.
- Provide hands-on training and instruction in accordance with American Red Cross guidelines and standards.
- Assess and evaluate students' performance and provide constructive feedback to ensure skill proficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance.
- Sanitize equipment after each class.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest guidelines and updates in Basic Life Support training.
- Ensure a safe and effective learning environment for all participants.
Education:
- Current certification as a Basic Life Support Instructor from the American Red Cross or equivalent organization.
Experience:
- Minimum - one (1) year of experience in teaching Basic Life Support courses or similar courses, including instructional experience in the classroom or clinical setting
- Preferrred - three (3) years of experience in teaching Basic Life Support courses or similar courses, including instructional experience in the classroom or clinical setting
Licenses and Certifications:
- Minimim - American Red Cross Basic Life Support Instructor, and Basic Life Support basic-level certification (need to obtain by hire date).
- Preferred - additional certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and other American Red Cross Instructor certificates.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of BLS guidelines, protocols, and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively convey complex information to a diverse audience.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage class schedules and adapt to varying class times (blended learning and instructor-led formats).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with online or blended learning platforms.
- Background in healthcare, emergency medical services, or a related field.
Physical Requirements:
Light: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
Work Environment:
- Classes are conducted at the ProACT Academy training center in Madison, WI near West Towne mall.
