Position Title: Behavior Technician or Registered Behavior Technician 1
Reports To: BCBA on case, PBS Directors
Position Status: Full Time
Availability: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8am -4:30pm. Tuesday and Thursday 8am - 6:30pm.
Job Summary:
The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) 1 will provide clinical skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to clients with exceptional needs in the home, community, and school settings. The RBT 1 is able to generalize information learned through Registered Behavior Technician classes, competency assessment, and exam to clients. The RBT 1 will collect data on programs, assist with parent training, and assist the BCBA with clinical tasks as requested. They are able to use creative thinking to problem solve with the behavior analyst and suggest ways to assist the client in reaching their full potential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities [ED]:
1. All Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Behavior Technician position as well as Essential Duties and Responsibilities listed below.
2. Begin to apply natural environment teaching (NET) and incidental teaching to supplement skills that are being taught using discrete trial teaching (DTT).
3. Generalize information learned through Registered Behavior Technician classes, competency assessment, and exam to clients and label terms when used.
4. Apply knowledge and skills to creatively problem solve and suggest ways to assist the client in reaching their full potential with the behavior analyst.
5. Participate in professional growth activities such as conferences, classes, workshops, reviewing scholarly publications, and participation in team meetings and program visitations as well as actively pursuing continuing education.
Education and/or Experience:
1. Required: Current, Valid Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential. An RBT certification number must be provided upon being hired. Ability to remain competent as an RBT by completing a yearly competency assessment through the BACB.
2. Required: High School Diploma & and must have completed 60 hours of college coursework from an accredited university. Enrollment in college coursework for at least 6 hours per semester from an accredited university and/or at least 6 months of experience delivering Applied Behavior Analysis services may be substituted for 60 hours of completed college coursework.
3. Preferred: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, Speech and Hearing Services, or a related field.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities [KSA]:
1. Strong and timely communication skills to work with a diverse team.
2. Excellent oral interpersonal skills.
3. Respond quickly to crisis situations and be able to handle aggressive and self-injurious behaviors of clients.
4. Reliable attendance record. Must meet a minimum of 95% attendance for scheduled sessions and follow established procedure for rescheduling or calling off.
5. Basic computer skills and be able to use all required software.
6. Ability to problem-solve and assist in decision-making, including during emergencies or when a supervisor is not onsite.
7. Work productively to develop relationships with individuals, families, and natural supports.
8. Proven creative abilities, strong organizational and time management skills.
9. Maintain a high level of organization for file maintenance, daily, weekly and monthly record keeping.
Additional Requirements [AR]:
1. Successful completion of fingerprinting and criminal background check; BCI and FBI.
2. Satisfactory professional reference checks.
3. Completion of CPR training.
4. Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a driving record that will enable the employee to be insured, if applicable.
5. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and quickly respond to children or aggressive behavior.
6. Ability to work at clinic or in school settings
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $24.00 per hour
