Job Overview:
The Clinical Distribution Technician (CDT) is responsible for the delivery, set-up and pick up of DME and respiratory equipment and supplies to home care patients. CDT possesses appropriate skill sets to train and educate clients to safely use home medical equipment and supplies and provide ongoing support as appropriate. A CDT should also possess communication skills allowing for optimal instruction of clients and/or caregivers on the care and use of oxygen systems, nebulizers, CPAPs, Apnea monitors, feeding pumps, and other therapies associated with respiratory and home care. This care is provided in the home environment, but can, in some cases, be in the hospital. This position is expected to participate in follow-up, documentation, and communication with clients and referral sources. CDT often serves as the representative of the company to its customers and must have a strong customer service orientation. Performs and supervises the assembly, repair and maintenance of all equipment provided by the company and maintains appropriate documentation. This service or repair could be for equipment to be delivered in compliance with specific medical requirements, modifications to existing customer equipment, repair of damaged or malfunctioning customer equipment, or routine service required by the manufacturer. CDT maintains appropriate documentation regarding delivery of equipment.
As part of the patient care team, CDT needs to be aware of changes in patients’ conditions and needs to make certain those concerns are shared with appropriate staff.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts downloads of recording devices such as apnea monitors, oximeters, CPAP devices, and other respiratory equipment.
- Performs functional tests on certain respiratory equipment as required by branch.
- Instructs patients on the basic use of their self-administration of respiratory equipment, as approved by local and state licensure limitations.
- Ensures that patients understand the proper operation and maintenance of the equipment.
- Conducts appropriate patient follow-up contacts.
- Prepares and maintains a record for each patient containing all pertinent patient information, care plans, physician prescriptions and follow-up documentation.
- Consults with respiratory care practitioner regarding patient treatment, medical condition and home environment.
- Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High School or equivalent (Required)· Two years of HME/DME experience with respiratory care in the home (Preferred)·
- Able to pass criminal background check and clean drug screen prior to employment
- Relevant experience in medical related field (Preferred)
- Clean driving record and Car Insurance (Required)
