Position Overview:
As an SLP, you will assess, diagnose, and provide therapy for students with speech, language, and communication disorders. You will collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to develop and implement individualized treatment plans to help students improve their speech, language, and social communication skills, and ensure they have the support needed for success in the school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct speech and language assessments to identify students' communication needs
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve speech, language, and communication skills
- Provide direct therapy to students in individual or small group settings
- Work closely with teachers, parents, and other school staff to create strategies and accommodations for students with communication challenges
- Monitor and document student progress, making adjustments to therapy plans as needed
- Support the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Provide recommendations for classroom modifications and strategies to enhance communication
- Collaborate with other specialists and educators to address students' academic and social needs
- Participate in IEP meetings, staff meetings, and professional development activities
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress and therapy sessions
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Current state licensure or certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- Previous experience working as an SLP in a school or pediatric setting is preferred
- Strong knowledge of speech and language disorders, treatment techniques, and IEP development
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals
- Compassionate, patient, and committed to student success
- Ability to maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation
