Our Controls Engineering group specializes in physical automation system design, programming, and commissioning. Our dedicated Data Services Group connects automated equipment and systems to the business environment including protected recipe systems, data collection and reporting, and data historian implementation.

The Solutions Specialist Level 1 will be responsible for analyzing the needs of users and assisting project managers in the development of high-level custom programs. The Solutions Specialist Level 1 serves as a member of a cross-functional team and has responsibility to support and execute tasks on projects. This includes system architecture, system hardware, system configuration, programming, design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance of applications.

Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for supporting the design, integration, programming, and troubleshooting of SCADA systems, industrial and MES networks, and custom software-based automation applications to support productivity and/or quality improvements for our clients.
Requirements
- Four-year bachelor’s degree in an accredited engineering discipline or have at least have 4 years of equivalent experience.
- Travel required
- Analyze and troubleshoot existing Manufacturing Execution Systems: hardware, software, networking.
- System Design: Research and understand commercially available hardware and software.
- System Design: Ability to evaluate system strategies to meet clients’ needs.
- Support other team members to ensure design intent and cost effectiveness of delivery are achieved.
- Develop detailed system documentation at the direction of other team members.
- Create project documentation (RAILs, FATs/SATs, SOWs, FDS, etc.)
- Write operations manuals at the direction of Digitalization Group Manager and/or Project Managers.
- Hardware and software installation with minimal direction of other team members
- Server, PC, UPS, switch, NAS, redundancy, etc.
- OS, communications software, drivers, other software packages, etc.
- Update device firmware, Install, license, and patch software, update drivers
- Networking
- Gain a proven understanding of networking principles such as IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, VPN, Routing, etc.
- Configure network hardware at the direction of other team members.
- Assist with the development and modification of network documentation.
- Backend Development & Support
- Obtain proficiency with database development and database queries within SSMS or similar.
- Obtain proficiency in integrating software application data via APIs/payloads (ERP, WMS, MES, Printing Applications, etc.)
- Create custom scripting/programming, interact with and utilize user management & security systems
- Become proficient in the configuration of third party software applications
- Frontend Development at the direction of other team members
- User Interface & SCADA/HMI Screen Development
- Creation of automated reports within SSRS and SCADA reporting tools
- Gain knowledge and understanding of recipe management systems
- Awareness and understanding of current cyber security threat landscape and follow Cyber Security best practices
- Upgrade and service software on live client applications at the direction of other team members
- Gain understanding of PLCs and ancillary automation equipment
- On-site support for design reviews, installation, start-up, and troubleshooting.
- Provide remote assistance for client with technical support to meet lead time and quality of client‘s requests.
- Executes functional tests under direction of other team members to ensure quality in software development.
- Startup Verifications (FAT/SAT documentation).
