Junior Buyer

Job Description

Technical liaison between suppliers, design engineers, Project Management and Supply Chain to achieve project and departmental goals and objectives (price, quality and on time delivery).

Responsibilities:

Review vendor proposals and work with vendors to ensure the lowest cost compliant solution.

• Research and develop strategic relationships with vendors that strengthen PA’s competitive edge.
• Maintain a focus on vendor technologies to enable low-cost design and facilitate a collaborative working relationship between design engineers and suppliers.
• Provide third party equipment content for proposals generated within FEOTB.
• Research and source vendors for major 3rd party equipment required for each proposal. Develop procurement strategies and the material plan for each proposal. These plans must focus on allowing Orise to provide the lowest cost compliant solution and its most competitive schedule.
• Support the development of engineering design methodology from a Supply Chain perspective to ensure successful execution through the supply chain.
• Maintain a preferred parts list and use it to drive selection of common parts and design features across multiple projects.
• Maintain regular product material cost metrics.
• Follow up with Vendors to ensure estimated delivery dates are updated on a regular basis and expedited where necessary.
• Work with Project Management to create purchasing plans for major projects to achieve material savings and ensure project timelines are met.
• Adhere to all ISO procedures and departmental policies and procedures.
• Purchase and confirm purchase orders as required for 3rd party and additional purchases as needs arise within department.
  
  

Qualifications: Education and Experience

• A degree in engineering, supply chain or business administration and/or 1 to 3 years of custom manufacturing experience.

• Work in compliance with divisional health, safety, and environmental procedures.
• Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout-tagout methods.
• Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts.
• Report defect in any equipment or protective device.
• Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasks.
• Attend all required health, safety, and environmental training.
• Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor.
• Assist in investigating accidents/incidents.
• Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running, or rough and boisterous conduct.
