Overview:
A major US Energy Business is searching a Process Technology Engineer to work directly with their VP and Director of Technology to be at the forefront of technological development for the business.
This is a superb position for a junior engineer looking to maximize their exposure across a business, or for a more experienced engineer keen to utilize all they have learnt across their career.
This role is highly tailorable to the selected candidate, so all experience levels are invited to apply.
This role will be based at the WV/VA border with minimal travel, or remote with 50-60% travel to site.
Main Aims:
The main responsibility is conducting and overseeing research (in the field or with vendor/customer). You will also contribute to the development of the technology program; creating and executing test plans, analyzing results, preparing reports, and provide recommendations to the Director and VP of Technology. You will be a team leader on multi-disciplinary teams focused on technology development and implementation.
Additionally, you’ll provide support to plant operation by offering technical customer support, troubleshooting process issues, and optimizing operations as required.
Responsibilities:
- Works with the Technology Director to research and determine technical opportunities and priorities for the business.
- Research processes and equipment in development or implementation worldwide in similar industries, identify viable uses for the business.
- Develop conceptual alternatives to current processes/equipment for improvement of existing processes and/or development of new processes.
- Data mining and statistical analysis of plant operations data to troubleshoot and improve plant performance.
- Develop and execute test protocols to determine viability of new technologies.
- Lead multifunctional groups in development, proof-of-concept testing, and application of new technologies.
- Evaluate technologies and operations through fundamental engineering calculations like heat/material balances.
- Prepare final test reports with conclusions & recommendations
- Develop designs, protocols, changes with the aid of Engineering, Project Development, Operations, Purchasing and Sales.
- Interface with Operations/Engineering during and after implementation of new technology, follow up with Operations to measure changes and solve any issues developed.
- Manage vendors of materials and services to provide testing for newly designed equipment.
- Visit customers for technical support and run trials of new technology/products at their sites.
- Prepare formal presentations for technology development tests.
- Assists Sales/BD in the technical evaluation of new business opportunities.
- Scientific discovery via managing laboratory activities, developing test methods, analyzing lab results
- Work on patent applications
Requirements:
- B.S. Chemical Engineering, other Engineering degree may be considered.
- 5 Years' in Process Engineering, Process Development, NPD, laboratory. 10 years preferred.
- Knowledge of engineering fundamentals e.g. combustion, heat/material balance programs, material handling, high temp materials, waste heat recovery, etc
- Strong communication skills. Able to work with Operators through to VPs
- Experience of process modelling software or statistical analysis preferred
- Comfortable with travel if not local/relocating to site
