What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handling Equipment Designer position at ProcessBarron?
At ProcessBarron, a world-class leader in design and manufacturing conveying equipment, we are seeking a highly skilled designer/draftsman for the Material Handling Engineering Department located in Pelham, AL.
The ideal candidate will have 5 years of drafting experience, proficiency at AutoCAD 2D drafting, structural detailing background, and knowledge of machining, welding, and fabrication processes.
We use AutoCAD and Inventor as our primary software to design and create plant layouts, equipment general arrangements, customer approval drawings, P&I's, material flow diagrams, shop fabrication drawings (detail drawings), and plate cutting templates.
Duties include producing customer general arrangement drawings, producing fabrication drawings, including dimensioning, weld specifications, and machining tolerances for shop use, checking of drawings produced by other designers, performing design analysis as requested, interaction and communication with persons, internal to and outside of the company, and vendors regarding drawings, design information, project management, fabrication support, installation support, and general customer support.
Additional responsibilities include clear and effective communication skills, creating supporting documentation for as-built designs, experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, creating drawing release transmittals and manufacturing orders for the fabrication and machine shops, creating requisitions, bills of materials, and parts orders, printing and storing drawings, assisting in the creation of job-specific operation and maintenance manuals, and performing any other work assigned by your supervisor.
