Position Summary:
Freestone Lake and Golf is one of our new developments and we are growing! We are looking for a Senior Accountant to oversee the financial operations and management of our Freestone Club. The Senior Accountant should have experience in the hospitality or leisure/resort industry. This position is located in Dallas and reports to the Finance Director.
Qualifications:
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with some experience in a supervisory role or industry-specific knowledge in hospitality or leisure services.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or specific club management software). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required for creating reports and performing data analysis.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Communication Skills: Ability to work closely with various department heads and effectively communicate financial information to non-financial managers.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to address financial discrepancies and optimize processes to ensure efficient operations.

Essential Functions:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles.
- Create detailed reports on income, expenses, and financial performance for management.
Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor the cash flow to ensure the club maintains adequate liquidity for day-to-day operations.
Internal Controls:
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard the club's financial assets.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and tax laws.
Tax Compliance:
- Ensure that all tax filings (federal, state, and local) are done in compliance with the law.
- Work with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process.
Member Accounts and Dues:
- Manage member billing, dues collections, and resolve any billing inquiries or issues.
- Oversee any special assessments or financial reports specific to members.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Work with Director of Finance to develop budgets for different departments within the club (e.g., golf, dining, events, maintenance).
- Work with Director of Finance and department heads to forecast revenue and expenses and monitor performance against the budget.
- Participate in meetings with management to discuss financial performance, cost control, and expansion plans.
