What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Writer position at ProChem Inc?
JOB SUMMARY
The Technical Writer produces technical documentation for the purposes of system development, operation, and maintenance. This individual is responsible for the quality, consistency, and accuracy of ProChem’s technical documentation and works closely with Sales Managers, Engineering resources, the Instrumentation & Controls Manager, and the Remote Monitoring Product Manager to ensure documentation and product quality. The Technical Writer reports to the Engineering Department Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manages the design, development, and publication of technical documentation
- Produces end user documentation for consumption by customers or other ProChem employees on the system design, operation, and maintenance procedures
- Oversees changes to technical documentation and version control on such documents
- Provides quality assurance for Water Systems department by comparing actual designs against engineering documents
- Provides quality assurance to Software Developer(s) by providing end user and usability feedback through HMI and remote monitoring website testing and simulation
- Supports corporate initiatives as needed (includes internal process documentation)
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by participating in activities such as: attending educational workshops, obtaining certification(s), participating in company organized events, reviewing professional publications, establishing networks, and participating in professional societies.

TRAINING, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Publications, or other related field
- Technical background preferred (science, engineering, chemistry, software development)
- Previous professional writing experience is required

- Daily computer use is required, and sitting, standing, and walking are parts of the daily demands. Occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling of up to 20 pounds is necessary.
