R&D - 1TPT Enabling Technologies - Group Head
Effectively manages others and collaborates cross-functionally to deliver critical innovations across multiple projects in one major area (a technology, a brand, an initiative). Leads groups to deliver R&D projects and/or capability building innovation to the business and has responsibility for delivery of technical rigor and mastery in their organization.
Qualifications
The 1TPT (Transformative Platform Technologies) is a Corporate R&D organization focused on creating strategic game-changing technologies with the potential to transform existing industries or create new ones. Enabling Technologies (ET) - Nonwovens and Films Making - is a pillar of the 1TPT and an indispensable partner that brings ideas to life through unparalleled technical mastery and world class capabilities. We are currently seeking a Group Head who is technically curious, while harboring a deeply rooted passion for managing and developing others. This individual will be responsible for managing and providing daily coaching across a team of up to 8 people. Given the newness of our organization, this position presents ample opportunity for vision and strategy setting, as well as work process design and implementation. This individual will also lead our ET interactions with the 1TPT Where to Play (WTP) spaces, responsible for plugging ET into Discovery Teams & projects early to assist the organization in developing Min Viable Prototypes (MVPs) to put substance to concepts and assist the organization in making critical and timely decisions regarding our project pipeline and scaleup readiness. The ET org has also been tasked with ‘looking around corners’ with respect to identifying and procuring new next gen technologies based on 1TPT need. This individual will ensure that our ET organization is putting ample time against this endeavor and initiating C D partnerships.
- BS/MS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- Must possess technical curiosity and bias towards action.
- Can lead Research & Development as part of a multifunctional team, can set project priorities and communicate risks and options appropriately. Integrates consumer insights and technical development work to guide the work of the team.
- Inherent creativity, both technically and organizationally
- Can effectively coach others and bring out the best of the team and organization. Can grow and develop others and adjusts coaching approach based on individual needs.
- Candidate will lead multiple R&D projects. Will require flexibility, priority setting and the ability to execute with excellence.
- Must possess and actively role model a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
- Strong collaboration skills both within R&D and with multifunctional partners. Candidate will need to work closely with our 5 1TPT Where To Play (WTP) pillars and their respective project leaders & Founder Teams.
- Ability to effectively lead technical teams to deliver program learning necessary to take a product from prototype through consumer testing and up to and possibly including TLE. Able to represent the technical team in front of technical and managerial leadership.
- Strong leadership and mastery in leading R&D teams from early iterative prototyping and consumer learning into TLEs. Pushes teams to act with a sense of urgency. Experience in the development of technical learning plans to deliver program success criteria and a technical CPS is required.
- Demonstrated ability to have clear written and verbal communication with project teams and management, while boiling down complex situations down to simply, actionable items.
- Ability and passion for operating in new spaces. Candidate must possess the ability to be agile while learning, a willingness to do things differently, and a willingness to experiment.
