Procter & Gamble's Corporate Analytical organization has an immediate opening for a Microscopy & Imaging Research Specialist to develop and apply microscopy, sample preparation, and imaging methods to drive technology and product development programs within the company. The successful candidate will join a state-of-the-art Electron Microscopy laboratory and work with PhD Scientists to execute assigned tasks within the laboratory. Technical experience and proficiency in sample preparatory techniques including ultramicrotomy, experience in electron microscopy (TEM, SEM) and/or light microscopy, and image processing are desirable but not necessary.
As a Microscopy & Imaging Research Specialist your key responsibilities will include:
- Partner effectively with PhD Microscopy experts to carry out specific and well-defined tasks in the laboratory
- Room and cryo temperature sample preparation of various samples (e.g., biological specimen, packaging materials, structured liquids, etc) for analysis by Electron Microscopy
- Pre-screen samples using polarized light microscopy and/or fluorescent light microscopy for subsequent analysis
- Prepare reagents (buffers, media, staining reagents, etc)
- Perform basic microbiology tasks such as growth and maintenance of bacteria, 96-well plate assays, etc
- Lab management - keep the lab well organized, order supplies, and implement quality and safety programs
- Implement and use digital tools and capabilities to extract insights from data

Qualifications
You must have an Associate degree in a STEM field (Biology, Histology, Chemistry, Material Science, Forensics Science, or related field). Experience in sample preparation of thin sections (e.g., biological tissues, polymer and packaging materials, etc.), light microscopy and/or electron microscopy is desirable but not required. Familiarity with basic image analysis approaches are a plus but not required.
