Wound Care Nurse Practitioner
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Wound Care Nurse Practitioner to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with various types of wounds. You will work closely with patients to develop care plans and provide education on wound care management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing, excellent communication skills, and a passion for patient care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients with wounds to determine a treatment plan.
- Develop individualized care plans based on patient needs.
- Perform wound debridement, dressing changes, and necessary procedures to promote healing.
- Educate patients and their families on proper wound care techniques/infection prevention strategies.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Monitor patient progress/adjust treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with regulations.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of physiology related to wound healing processes.
- Experience in outpatient settings providing direct patient care.
- Familiarity with infection control protocols to prevent complications.
- Ability to ventilate patients, during wound assessments or emergencies.
- Understanding of family planning principles as they relate to patient education.
- Knowledge of workers' compensation law relevant to wound care treatment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) is required
- Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities is a plus.
- Competence in infant care.
