We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Wound Care Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with various types of wounds. You will work closely with patients to develop comprehensive care plans and provide education on wound care management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing, excellent communication skills, and a passion for patient care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients with wounds to determine the appropriate treatment plan.
- Develop individualized care plans based on patient needs and evidence-based practices.
- Perform wound debridement, dressing changes, and other necessary procedures to promote healing.
- Educate patients and their families on proper wound care techniques and infection prevention strategies.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in wound care management and best practices.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of physiology related to wound healing processes.
- Experience in outpatient settings providing direct patient care.
- Familiarity with infection control protocols to prevent complications.
- Ability to ventilate patients when necessary during wound assessments or emergencies.
- Understanding of family planning principles as they relate to patient education.
- Knowledge of workers' compensation law relevant to wound care treatment for injured workers.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; additional certifications in advanced wound care are preferred.
- Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities is a plus.
- Competence in infant care may be beneficial depending on the patient demographic served.
