Field Operator is responsible for the proper and safe operation and maintenance of all pipelines, measurement facilities, compression facilities, and other associated equipment in an assigned area used to transport, treat, and store natural gas.

DUTIES And RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Proper operation and maintenance of pipelines in accordance with company policies/procedure and applicable DOT regulations. E.g., gas measurement, TEG dehydrators, and natural gas compressors.
  • Perform preventative maintenance. E.g., Pigging, sample collection, greasing valves, changing filters and tightening loose connections, etc.
  • Maintain adequate housekeeping at all locations and pipelines.
  • Review equipment logs and gather information for readiness.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports and communicate them to the Field Foreman.
  • Perform minor equipment repair.
  • Identify equipment issues and take appropriate action to correct. E.g., prepare and submit work orders for repairs by third-party vendors.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair with third-party vendors.
  • Effectively interact with third-party customers, vendors, regulatory personnel and the public to properly complete job duties.
  • Actively participate in the Operator Qualification (OQ) Program.
  • Ability to be on call 24-7 on a rotation with other coworkers.
  • Must live within 60 - 65 miles from reporting location to accommodate call outs.
  • Respond to call outs no later than 2 hours from the time the call is sent.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in partnership safety program and initiatives.
  • Maintain and adhere to required trainings, policies, and procedures.
  • Actively participate in safety programs and initiatives.
  • Communicate with partnership control centers, business groups, and other operating groups as necessary.
  • Comply with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Must maintain valid driver’s license in state of residency.
  • Work assigned shift and be available for overtime if needed.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required and other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all internal, state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain honest, respectful, and effective internal and external working relationships.
  • Complete all training as directed by management.

Qualifications

Knowledge of:

  • Computer usage and Microsoft Office (or comparable) products.
  • Natural gas pipeline maintenance and repair.
  • Basic reading and mathematics as applied to equipment maintenance.
  • Accepted safety standards and methods of natural gas pipelines.
  • Pertinent Federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations affecting health and safety.
  • Natural Gas Compression and Driven Equipment experience and understanding.
  • Dehydration facility experience and understanding.

Ability To

  • Observe and take remedial action on equipment issues.
  • Read and interpret gauges, equipment logs and specifications.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Maintain effective working relationships.
  • Deal tactfully and cost-effectively with vendors.

EXPERIENCE And TRAINING GUIDELINES

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Preferred Education And/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent helpful.
  • One to two years of related natural gas field operation experience desired.
