What are the responsibilities and job description for the Metallographic Lab Technician position at Product Evaluation Systems, LLC?

What will I do?
- Prepare samples in the Metallographic Lab for testing by cutting, mounting, polishing, and chemically etching the sample to appropriate specifications.
- Analyze microstructural/macrostructural features of the material using microscopy, materials analysis techniques, and image analysis software per applicable specifications and purchase order requirements.
- Determine conformance of the material to specified requirements, or report observed results when requested for research and development purposes. Prepare test reports for review.
- Participate in internal peer review of all test reports.
- Utilize photographic equipment, related materials analysis and imaging software, and MS Office software.
- Perform microindentation hardness testing and lab-scale heat treatment to support analysis.
- Communicate with customers, as needed, regarding nonconformances, scope of work issues/questions or unexpected analytical results
- Make purchasing recommendations to Metallographic Lab Manager
You’re a great fit if you have:
- Some college level materials-related coursework or prior training/experience regarding metallic materials. Metallographic preparation/analysis experience is preferred, but not required. Note: Individuals without this experience, but an eagerness to learn this field, will still be considered for this role.
- Proficiency with software required to complete metallographic testing, including imaging and analysis software. Experience using light microscopy is preferred, but not required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Excellent attention to detail, multitasking ability, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
- The ability to work independently or as part of a team to complete a task.

Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
