Job Description:
IDS connects data to investment analysis by overseeing all aspects of the data management life cycle. They work closely with investment programs to understand their business data and decision support requirements, develop tools to extract valuable and timely information, and continuously improve processes and systems to ensure high levels of data integrity and availability. The IDS team is seeking seasoned SQL development expertise to successfully assist with ongoing business initiatives.
Scope:
The Investment Decision Support team is seeking an experienced SQL/BI Developer with strong database, programming, and analytical skills to actively participate in the following scope of work:
Assist with overall SQL Support (development, performance, process, documentation) related to Quarterly projects and other development efforts as needed. Activities may include:
Development - SQL Development support to include creation of stored procedures or raw SQL Code Data Movement - Provide support in the design, development, and implementation of ETL packages with SSIS.
VBA Migration - Take VBA from existing spreadsheets and convert SQL logic to stored procedures to simplify the management and SQL calling process.
Performance Tuning - Review existing SQL Queries, Execution Plans, Partitions, and Index(s) to determine performance enhancements for long running queries.
Data Manipulation - Provide alternative options to existing data manipulation techniques. Examples would be converting Excel manipulation activities into SSIS packages that reduce process/cycle time of data preparation.
SQL Development Processes - Review existing development processes and provide recommendations how to enhance core development activities (i.e., Code Promotion, Code Reviews).
SSRS/Tableau Development Support - Create new or enhance existing reports to meet business needs defined within the quarterly projects.
Required Skills
5 years of experience in SQL database development and programming
3 years of experience in VBA programming
Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services and Tableau
Experience with SQL Server Integration Services
Experience writing technical documentation (requirements, process maps, etc.)
Excellent communicator and be able to produce clear and concise documentation
Demonstrated experience working in a team environment
Demonstrated experience working independently with only high-level guidance
Additional Preferred Skills
Experience with data governance best practices/procedures
