Position Summary
As Senior Operations Accountant, reporting to the Division Controller for PowerFLX, your primary responsibility will be to manage, report, and maintain financial control of project costs in accordance with company policies and customer requirements. The Senior Operations Accountant will ensure company policy and procedures conform to GAAP and has knowledge of commonly used accounting concepts, practices and procedures within the oil field services industry. Primary responsibilities also include preparation of account reconciliations, journal entries and financial analysis for the monthly, quarterly and annual close, as well as preparing analysis and reporting for the PowerFLX line of business and operations management. The individual will actively participate in the ongoing development, implementation, maintenance and application of the Company’s accounting practices, procedures and standards. This individual should have strong interpersonal, presentation and analytical skills.
Position Responsibilities
- Execute month end closing activities including journal entries, financial analysis, account reconciliations and preparation of supporting schedules.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate transaction processing.
- Adhere to internal closing schedules and reporting deadlines.
- Assist with the preparation of internal financial reports, including monthly, quarterly and annual financial operating reports, as well as analyses of key performance measures.
- Analyze project costs and performance against budget. Identify variances and suggest corrective actions to ensure financial targets are met.
- Assist in the preparation of project budgets and financial forecasts. Update budgets based on actual costs and revised estimates, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project goals.
- Prepare regular cost reports for project managers and senior management. Highlight and explain any significant overruns or savings, providing actionable insights
- Ensure all project costs are accurately recorded and allocated, including making any cost adjustments to projects.
- Monitor project expenditure and commitments to ensure they remain within approved budget levels, proactively addressing any potential issues.
- Work closely with project managers, finance staff, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely cost control.
- Ensure performance, schedule, and cost guidelines are reviewed with project staff.
- Identify potential financial risks and work with the project team to develop and implement mitigation strategies.
- Recommend improvements to cost control procedures aim to reduce costs and improve efficiency through continuous process enhancement.
- Monitoring and forecasting cash flow, invoicing, and assisting the Customer Service team in overdue cash collection.
- Assist Commercial and Sales teams with developing, updating, and auditing billing rates.
- Provide meaningful support for annual capital planning by conducting analysis of historical data, project costs, and resource allocation.
- Develop, maintain, and advocate the use of interactive dashboards and metrics that provide real-time insights into project data, enhancing decision-making capabilities.
- Support the accounting team during audits by preparing necessary documentation, facilitating access to financial records.
- Seek and implement process improvements, efficiencies and automation opportunities in the financial close process.
- Perform special projects and other tasks as assigned by the Division Controller - PowerFLX.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or other similar business degree.
- 3 – 5 years of accounting, finance or related experience.
- Strong understanding of financial principles and accounting/budgeting practices.
- Accounting background will include knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, financial analysis and internal controls compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and financial management software, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Excel. Skilled in managing and analyzing large datasets efficiently.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and high degree of accuracy.
- Highly organized with ability to prioritize responsibilities effectively to meet deadlines.
- Open to growth, driven, and willing to learn in a complex environment.
- Excellent communication (both oral & written) and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive and self-motivated.

Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Great Plains Financials.
- CPA designation or CPA in progress preferred.
- Prior Experience with an ERP roll-out.
- Knowledge of communication principles and practices.
- Experience in cost control, project accounting, or a similar role, preferably within a services environment.
- Experience in the aero-derivative services industry.
- Experience in construction of turnkey aero-derivatives facilities.
