About the Company: Our client company is a high-quality secondary aluminum foundry located in Chicago Heights. It is a growing business with almost 50 years of industry experience.
About the Role: The Inventory Accountant provides support and data analytics to Warehouse, Production, and Commercial Groups. This individual will focus on maintaining accurate inventory and production data. The position’s responsibilities include providing findings and recommendations supporting accurate product costing standards used in valuing inventory and in pricing decisions directly impacting the Company’s margins and profits. This person will work independently with minimal supervision performing various analyzing and reporting tasks. This role requires strong follow-through on information requested as well as strong communication, organizational, multi-tasking, and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee inventory accounting operations, including reconciliation and valuation.
- Prepare and analyze inventory-related financial reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor and evaluate inventory levels, adjusting records to reflect real-time quantities.
- Collaborate with the operations team to implement and enhance inventory controls.
- Conduct regular audits to verify inventory accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Assist in the development of cost reduction strategies through inventory management.
- Coordinate month-end and year-end inventory accounting processes.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant standards.
Qualifications: Candidates should have experience in accounting at a manufacturing operation or an auditing firm. Ideal candidates would have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting. A CPA certificate is a plus but not required.
- 3 or more years of experience in inventory accounting or related roles.
- Proficient in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks).
- Strong understanding of inventory control and cost accounting principles.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
- Familiarity with inventory management software is a plus.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle large datasets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Salary : $70,000 - $85,000
