Environmental Engineer - (position requires relocation to KY)
Our client, a not-for-profit generation and transmission electric utility based in Winchester, KY, is owned and governed by 16 member-operated distribution co-ops. Their mission is to provide reliable, competitive energy to more than a million residents in Kentucky. The utility is currently seeking Environmental Engineers at multiple levels (I, II, III, and Senior) to join their team.
Hybrid Work Schedule This role offers a hybrid work model, combining three on-site days with up to two remote days per week, subject to department needs and supervisory approval.
Position Overview This position involves designing, planning, and managing environmental engineering initiatives to ensure regulatory compliance. Projects include waste management, site remediation, pollution control, spill prevention, and environmental project management.
Key Responsibilities
· Work with internal staff, management, and legal counsel on environmental compliance matters.
· Support budget planning, forecasting, and administration.
· Develop and update environmental documentation and procedures.
· Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local environmental standards.
· Conduct site data analysis to address regulatory concerns and prepare recommendations for compliance.
· Lead projects focused on air and water quality, waste disposal, and spill prevention.
· Oversee project administration, purchasing, and management.
· Maintain and update environmental permits, plans, and standard procedures.
· Provide technical advice on environmental projects, regulations, and legal matters.
· Inspect facilities, conduct quality checks, and recommend compliance actions.
· Track and report progress on environmental improvement programs.
· Inform and advise company officials and employees on environmental standards and remediation procedures.
· Design and implement systems for environmental protection, including waste management and air/water quality control.
· Prepare regulatory documentation, including hazardous waste notifications.
· Participate in environmental compliance inspections and training sessions.
· Research and review new federal regulations for potential impacts on operations.
· Support data and information requests for environmental compliance needs.
· Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
· Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
· Level I: Entry-level
· Level II: 3 years of experience
· Level III: 5 years of experience
· Senior: 7 years of experience, with a P.E. license preferred
· Skills and Abilities
· Strong understanding of EPA regulations and their application in the utility sector.
· Ability to communicate technical information effectively to varied audiences.
· Skilled in data analysis, project management, and compliance evaluation.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and environmental project software.
· Strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
· Capable of managing confidential information and adhering to deadlines effectively.
