Director, External Reporting
Position Overview:
The Director, External Reporting is a key member of the Corporate Finance and Accounting team, reporting directly to the Vice President of External Reporting. This role is responsible for all aspects of SEC filings and external financial reporting while collaborating with internal teams and external auditors to ensure compliance and accuracy. The ideal candidate is a leader with strong technical accounting expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all external financial reporting, including SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, Proxy, 8-K), press releases, and investor presentations.
- Conduct detailed reviews of footnotes, MD&A supporting work papers, and draft MD&A and disclosures from scratch.
- Research new SEC and US GAAP requirements, providing practical adoption recommendations.
- Coordinate SEC filing drafts with stakeholders, including external auditors, legal counsel, and investor relations.
- Monitor and evaluate impacts of GAAP and SEC developments on the company.
- Lead annual and quarterly goodwill and intangible asset impairment testing.
- Manage accounting and reporting for share-based compensation using Fidelity's Plan Sponsor Workstation.
- Perform technical accounting research and prepare memorandums documenting conclusions.
- Oversee submission of SEC filings via Workiva and review XBRL tagging for accuracy.
- Participate in special projects, such as mergers, acquisitions, and significant transactions.
- Maintain and enhance financial reporting policies, processes, and internal controls.
- Mentor and develop external reporting team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- CPA certification.
- 10 years of relevant experience, including Big 4 public accounting or SEC reporting for a large global company.
- Extensive knowledge of SEC reporting and US GAAP.
- Strong technical accounting and research skills.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. full-time.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in consumer product/retail sectors.
- Familiarity with Workiva and XBRL tagging.
- Experience in global organizations and with acquisition/divestiture accounting.
- Exposure to Fidelity’s Plan Sponsor Workstation.
- Knowledge of Oracle EPM, Oracle Business Intelligence, and ERP systems.
