Commercial Real Estate Controller

Location: Houston, Texas (Upper Heights) Fully in-office
Job Overview: Seeking an experienced Controller with multiple years in financial oversight to manage and ensure accuracy in financial operations. This pivotal role includes overseeing accounts receivable, payroll, and compliance with industry standards. The Controller will provide strategic insights, driving informed business decisions while maintaining financial governance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and present GAAP-compliant financial statements, offering insights and recommending improvements based on budget analysis.
- Accounts Receivable & Cash Flow Management: Oversee collections, cash flow projections, and cash management controls, interfacing with investors on accounting matters.
- Budgeting & Strategic Planning: Develop and monitor budgets aligned with business goals, providing forecasts for investments and operational plans.
- Regulatory Compliance & Internal Controls: Ensure adherence to accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies, implementing effective controls and evaluating financial systems.
- Payroll & Compensation Oversight: Supervise payroll processes and collaborate on benefits and compliance reporting with HR.
- Accounting Systems & Technology: Utilize accounting software for efficient financial management, driving automation and implementing new technologies.
- Cross-Department Collaboration & Financial Guidance: Collaborate with leadership and teams to provide financial insights supporting decision-making, including consulting on business initiatives and labor management.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA, CMA preferred.
- 5-7 years in progressive accounting management, real estate finance and systems like Yardi or Sage are a requirement.
- Proficient in financial modeling, forecasting, and interpreting complex data.
- Strong organizational, communication, and ethical standards with proven leadership in team development.
- Problem-solving collaborator with a forward-thinking financial strategy and integrity in a dynamic environment.
Salary : $110,000 - $150,000
