Description

The Senior Salesforce Developer will play a critical role in hands-on development, automation, and integration of the organization’s Salesforce ecosystem. This role requires expertise in Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), API integrations, and declarative tools such as Flows. In addition to development responsibilities, the individual will provide technical leadership for an on-site Salesforce admin and oversee external development partners to ensure high-quality solutions align with business needs. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, technical execution, and the ability to mentor and guide junior team members. This is a hybrid position requiring on-site work in Chicago, IL on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

APPLICATION AND PLATFORM MANAGEMENT

  • Proven Salesforce developer experience, including Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Components, Salesforce APIs, and integration platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Zapier) required.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge and experience in all aspects of Salesforce configuration and its functional and technical capabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Pardot, with experience in Communities preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD technologies, version control systems, and deployment processes.
  • Knowledge of middleware integration platforms and ETL tools for data migration and synchronization.
  • Experience in managing and configuring Association Management Systems (AMS), specifically Fonteva.
  • Experience in managing Fonteva event features, including event setup, registration, and integration.
  • Act as the primary technical resource for troubleshooting and resolving complex Salesforce issues, including Apex performance, security, and integrations.
  • Import customer/prospect data into Salesforce/Pardot following PCMA data policies.
  • Design and manage custom Salesforce reports and dashboards to provide actionable insights to leadership and departmental teams.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to integrate Salesforce with other systems, ensuring data consistency and efficient workflows.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of enterprise application projects, including requirement gathering, solution design, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
  • Create and manage objects, fields, page layouts, record types, workflows, approval processes, validation rules etc.
  • Evaluate, implement, and manage third-party plugins and applications from the Salesforce AppExchange and other marketplaces, ensuring compatibility, security, and alignment with organizational needs.
  • Maintain user roles, profiles, and security settings, ensuring proper access controls and compliance with organizational policies.
  • Monitor and enforce data quality policies, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and reliability of data across all enterprise applications.
  • Assist in training new users and growing the Salesforce.com skillset across the organization.
  • Implement proactive monitoring solutions to identify and address issues before they affect end-users.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day ticket queue, managing user requests and issues within the Salesforce platform.
  • Partner with business units to identify key performance metrics and implement real-time reporting solutions.
  • Develop, maintain, and test disaster recovery and data restoration plans to ensure minimal disruption in the event of data loss, integration failures, or accessibility issues.

LEADERSHIP AND STRATEGY

  • Lead and mentor an on-site Salesforce administrator while coordinating with external development partners to ensure adherence to best practices in application management and development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to align application capabilities with organizational objectives.
  • Develop long-term strategies for system growth and scalability while optimizing existing platforms for performance and cost efficiency.
  • Provide mentorship and training to internal teams to enhance the organization’s technical capabilities.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and mentoring technical teams, fostering collaboration, and ensuring accountability.
  • Proven ability to translate technical concepts into non-technical terms for diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong decision-making skills with a focus on delivering innovative and practical solutions to business challenges.
  • Travel to and participate in PCMA events and activities, as necessary.

Qualifications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Salesforce Developer Certification required; additional certifications in Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, or Pardot are highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience managing enterprise applications, with at least 5 years of hands-on Salesforce development.
  • Previous experience in an association, non-profit, or membership-based organization is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or Engineering) or equivalent work experience required. Salesforce, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Developer certifications preferred.
  • Proven experience in enterprise application administration, including familiarity with various enterprise software applications, databases, and operating systems.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of related work experience using SFDC and components such as Service Cloud, Sales Cloud, Mobile, Single Sign On, APIs, and integration to enterprise systems; two (2) years as a SFDC administrator.
  • Strong SFDC knowledge and Integration components for SFDC (for example, SFDC APIs, Apex controllers, Apex Web Services, Apex callout, outbound messaging, SFDC data loaders and ETL Tools - e.g., DataStage).
  • Strong data management abilities.
  • A demonstrated ability to understand and articulate complex requirements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of SLDC methodologies.
  • Experience with task management tools such as Jira and Microsoft Tasks.
  • Proven problem-solving experience with multi-platform and multi-network subnet environments.
  • Proven ability to organize, structure and complete projects within established deadlines required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary.
  • Must also demonstrate a sense of urgency, take initiative, sense of ownership of their work, strong team player, constant desire to improve, positive attitude, and willingness to learn and experience a new environment.
  • Flexibility to work extra hours, some weekends, and infrequent travel as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SIILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Expert knowledge of the Salesforce-based association management solutions (Sales, Service, Marketing). FONTEVA and/or Association Management System experience preferred.
  • Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Pardot, or Communities certifications and project experience preferred. 
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in all aspects of Salesforce configuration and functional/technical capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
  • Experience in maintaining user roles, profiles, and security settings.
  • Experience in implementing monitoring services to identify issues proactively.
  • Experience in implementation and managing Salesforce ISVs.
  • Experience in Salesforce deployment strategies, including sandbox, production deployments and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Development experience with integration middleware platforms such as MuleSoft or Zapier. 
  • Knowledge of SDLC methodologies, API’s, Agile, and Dev-Ops.
  • Knowledge of membership management systems in an association setting.
  • Previous experience in a professional society or professional association environment.
  • Must possess solid organizational skills and show ability to address several issues simultaneously.
  • Willingness to learn, develop, and contribute to a fun, fast-paced environment. 
  • Proactive self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and a creative approach to problem-solving, capable of working independently with autonomy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

  • Flexibility to work extra hours, some weekends, and infrequent travel as needed.
  • Ability to perform work utilizing a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time in performing the work.
  • Ability to grasp objects utilizing fingers (fine motor manipulation).
  • Ability to travel by air or ground transportation as required in performing the work.
  • Ability to lift up to fifteen pounds.
