Job Overview
We are seeking a dependable and motivated Courier Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods efficiently and safely while providing excellent customer service. This role requires a strong attention to detail, the ability to navigate routes effectively, and a commitment to maintaining the integrity of our deliveries.
In addition to the above, the Courier Driver will obtain the responsibility of answering dispatch alerts and then self-assign themselves to specific jobs. These jobs are typically small packages and only require 1-2 stops per job, with driving time ranging from 1 hour to 4-5 hours at night.
Responsibilities
- Logging into the company phone system at the after-hours start time provided (Sunday evening through Thursday evening or scheduled days if Part-Time)
- Answer each call or job alert that comes through the phone line during the after hours period.
- Accept overnight jobs offered, and perform the respective pickups and deliveries that follow.
- Input all accepted jobs into our company job management system, and in daily information communication portals
- Report to work daily in a neat and professional manner with proper uniform and an attitude of success.
- Open availability to accept all jobs and phone calls during the on-call hours assigned
- Answer the phone in a polite and professional manner
- Evaluate daytime availability and be able to offer alternative solutions to clients if needed to secure job alerts.
- Follow delivery route as identified by company systems and manager/dispatcher
- Maintain a neat and clean delivery van at all times. Report any damage or vehicle performance issues.
- Practice safe driving skills (no speeding or aggressive driving, use turn signals/headlights, use flashers when parked).
- Communicate with the Operations Manager and/or Driver Lead on any issues or concerns.
- Must execute accurate and timely deliveries - communicate any self or weather-related deviation from this requirement.
- This position requires the driver to download a company-provided app on their personal smartphone. The app is only to be used when on-duty. PCS does not compensate for usage of a personal device and/or a data plan for use of the app while at work.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in route driving or delivery services is preferred.
- Ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs) safely and efficiently.
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly demeanor.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to heavy lifting and equipment operation.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs
- Must be able to drive at night, in the rain, and in the snow
- Must be be able to walk deliveries to the front door of customers and enter/exit your vehicle without restrictions
- Must be able to work efficiently and quickly
- This position requires a driver to bend, stoop, squat, reach, and lift
- Driver must be able to drive for long periods of time
- Mental alertness is mandatory at all times
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate via phone and use a smartphone application
Driver Record Check Notice
- This position requires a candidate to undergo a driving record check prior to employment. If the report indicates that a candidate may cause risk to the company based on their driving record (such as traffic violations, license suspensions, DUI/DWI, the driver’s candidacy will be rejected/terminated.
- If it is determined that a driver obtains any of the above infractions while employed with Professional Courier Services, a driver may be terminated due to risk to our customers, fleet, or the company.
Reports to: Operations Manager - Same day/Expedited
Delivery Accuracy and Care: The driver will be expected to deliver with accuracy and care. In the event that the driver delivers to the wrong address, they will be responsible for returning to the delivered address and re-delivering to the correct address. PCS understands that mistakes happen and no human is perfect. All incidents are subject to review. If it is clear the driver is acting in a way that is careless or unsafe, the driver will be disciplined which could result in immediate termination.
Schedule: This position requires a driver to work the shifts determined by the Operations Manager and be scheduled through PCS' timekeeping and attendance systems. Overtime may be required from time to time. This position may require rotation of week-day, and holiday shifts. Drivers will be required to report for duty once a schedule is finalized and published.
