The Design Technician will be responsible for applying technical skills to multiple projects, working with other design disciplines internal and external to PEC to develop engineering solutions for PEC’s Clients. The Design Technician will ensure the project plan deliverables are prepared timely and cost effectively in accordance with PEC’s standards. This position utilizes BIM/CAD software.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with engineering design and coordinate with other design staff for construction document and specification production
- Completes design tasks for associated design projects. Tasks include but are not limited to design, drafting, calculations and cost estimating
- Assist with design computations
- Uses experience, education, and judgement to make informed decisions. Retains knowledge and builds on previous experiences to increase capabilities in breadth and complexity
- Organizes multiple projects and tasks and completes them in a timely manner, on schedule, and per PEC Standards
- Organizes project information and drawings files in a manner that is accessible and understandable for current and future use
- Effectively communicates and coordinates with the Design Team to complete design tasks on numerous projects
- Reviews project submittals for compliance with design checklists and drafting standards
- Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion
Special Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Ability to work independently and with others

- Knowledge and skill in determining project requirements
- Strong work ethic
- Experience with computer aided drafting and modeling using industry accepted software
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office and Bluebeam
- Must have advanced computer and applications knowledge
- Meet and understand critical deadlines through efficient time management and effective communication
- Understanding relevant design tasks for coordination with other disciplines
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
Education and Experience:
- Obtain or currently working towards a certificate or degree providing training in CAD software or relevant experience
License and Certification:
- Certificate in CAD software is preferred
