Position Overview: We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented optometric technician to help with providing eye care services. This role requires excellent organizational skills, a strong customer service focus, and the ability to handle both administrative and hands-on tasks. We are open to training the right candidate. We do not offer medical insurance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform initial patient intake and record medical history.
- Conduct preliminary eye tests such as visual acuity, eye muscle movements, and peripheral vision tests.
- Administer tests like color vision, tonometry (eye pressure), and refraction tests under the guidance of the optometrist.
- Prepare and operate diagnostic equipment for eye exams.
- Assist optometrists during eye examinations, taking measurements, and charting results
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including test results, treatments, and prescriptions.
- Provide excellent customer service, answer questions, and address patient concerns.
- Explain insurance coverage and benefits to patients as needed.
- Ensure that all areas of the office are kept clean and organized, including sterilizing equipment and workstations.
- Process patient paperwork, including insurance information and payment transactions.
- Maintain patient records and ensure confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a medical assistant or customer service role preferred.
- Basic knowledge of optometry or experience in a similar setting is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using office equipment and computer systems.
