What are the responsibilities and job description for the Print Estimator/Planner position at Professional Printing Center Inc?
In addition to estimating, the ideal candidate will be able to plan production for each particular job to maximize efficiency and minimize waste. A good overall knowledge of print production is required to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Experience with ePS Pace Print management system a plus.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Use the Company's estimating software to calculate labor and material costs of producing a wide array of jobs including books, brochures, postcards, stationary and mail pieces based on specifications outlined from Account Executives or Customer Service reps.
- Examine specifications, and/or layouts to assist in determining production costs.
- Understand and consider factors such as size, number of sheets or pages, paper stock, binding operations, number of ink colors, and quality of finished product to determine the most cost-effective production method.
- Collaborate with Management and/or production personnel to confirm cost elements and determine efficacy of desired production methods
- Maintain knowledge of current and new print technologies.
- Communicate and negotiate with outside vendors on behalf of the company to obtain competitive pricing & scheduling to meet customer's needs.
- Communicate any potential concerns to the Account Executives, Customer Service, and Management as needed.
- Provide assistance and coverage to others in the Estimating department as needed.

- Interpret information in mathematical, written and diagram form.
- Use arithmetic to perform systems administration duties; reviewing, analyzing, and reporting accurate information.
- High computer literacy and experience in the Microsoft Office suite of software, including Excel.
- Experience with ePS Pace print management system.
- Negotiation skills and conflict resolution abilities.
- Work on various projects simultaneously and adapt to constantly changing situations.
- Able to institute change without unduly disrupting organization effectiveness.
